Sussex Beacon 'Dizzy with excitement' with Olly Alexander to run half marathon
The Years and Years and Eurovision star has been sharing his support for the charity as he announces he's to run a half-marathon for them
The pop icon and Eurovision star Olly Alexander is going to take to the streets of Brighton in 2026, running the Half Marathon, all for a hospice which provides vital support for patients who live with HIV.
He's joining Team Beacon, raising funds for the Sussex Beacon, and made the announcement last week on social media.
The award-winning singer/songwriter visited The Sussex Beacon back in February, meeting with staff and service users, to discover more about the charity’s work supporting and caring for people living with HIV.

'I'm so excited'
Olly said: “I’m so excited to be joining Team Beacon for the Brighton Half Marathon! I’ve fallen in love with the charity and the work they do, which is so important and vital for the LGBTQ+ community and people living with HIV.
"I was lucky enough to meet some of the team and service users earlier this year and I can’t wait to see them all again. I’m slightly nervous as I’ve never taken part in a half marathon before, but I can’t think of a better introduction than to race with new friends and help raise some money for an amazing charity”.
The BAFTA-nominated actor takes to the stage towards the end of September, when he assumes the role of Algernon Moncrieff, in the National Theatre & Sonia Friedman co-production of The Importance of Being Earnest, at the Noel Coward Theatre in London’s West End.
'Absolutely delighted'
Rachel Brett, CEO of The Sussex Beacon, said: ”We are absolutely delighted Olly will be joining us in Team Beacon, for the Brighton Half Marathon.
"His visit to the Beacon earlier in the year meant so much to us, so the fact he is supporting the Beacon in this way is enormously appreciated.
"Being a man of many talents, his presence will help us raise our profile within the community and beyond, even further”.
