Dozen men in Wiltshire step into world of drag for special charity calendar
The group's glow-up was helped by Sam Compton - better known as Shelia Tackya - at the Flying Monk in Chippenham
A dozen men from Wiltshire have glammed up as drag queens for a calendar that’s hoping to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
It was all organised by Ian Powell-Brown, who also took part in the photo shoot back in September.
He's in the calendar posing in the village pub under the fabulous alter-ego 'Paula Pint'.
Sam Compton - AKA Shelia Tackya - is the resident drag queen at the Flying Monk in Chippenham, and made the glow-up happen.
He told Hits Radio Pride: "I mean, where else would you see a Maltese man dressed as Ursula the sea witch than outside of a social club?
"I was asked to transform twelve gentlemen from the local area into their 'Glama-zon' alter egos - and it's been absolutely bonkers.
"I had a sixty-year-old farmer sat in front of me in the shoot, he'd never had a stitch of makeup on him in his life, and he let me do whatever I wanted!
"Some of them also got pretty into it, with others even getting a bit picky towards the end with what shade of lipstick they were wearing!
"It was such an amazing couple of days."
Sam added that supporting the charity meant a lot to everyone involved.
He said: "33 men die each day from prostate cancer.
"One of the gentlemen in the calendar, who we've called Sheila Fleeceya - because he runs the local shop - actually had the disease.
"He's come out of the other side, luckily, and got the all clear.
"So, you know, why not make a calendar which would make a great gift for somebody, and do some good as well?"
It was a tough challenge for the team to whittle the hundreds of photos taken over the space of just two days down to just twelve.
But each month was chosen to represent important local landmarks and events.
One of them is dedicated to the iconic Christian Malford Duck race.
Sam said: "Both days were an absolute hoot!
"The drag element was all Ian's idea, and I think it's such a fun way to do something good.
"These boys were so brave to do it - they really did trust me with their dignity!"
£10 from every sale of the calendar goes directly to Prostate Cancer UK.
