Kensington Palace has confirmed The Princess of Wales will host her fourth 'Together at Christmas' Carol Service at Westminster Abbey next month.

The event, on Friday 6th December, will recognise those who've supported people in need across the UK, whether friends and family, volunteering or through their work.

Fifteen smaller-scale events will also take place across the UK.

They will be hosted by Lord-Lieutenants and supported by the Royal Foundation.

Westminster Abbey Christmas Celebration

According to the Palace, the Princess of Wales wants to "celebrate the many people supporting those in need – individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive.

"This theme takes inspiration from the Christmas story which encourages us to consider the experiences of others and the important human need of giving and receiving empathy," a statement adds.

1,600 people who have supported others in their communities will join Her Royal Highness at Westminster Abbey, with Members of The Royal Family and "recognisable faces who in their own ways have shown how love can help others thrive."

We're told the ceremony will combine traditional and modern elements, to welcome people of all faiths and none, with musical performances by Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean and Gregory Porter.

It will be broadcast on ITV on Christmas Eve.

Community Carol Services across the UK

Lord-Lieutenants, who represent the Royal Family in communities across the country, will host community versions of the event.

They'll be held in a variety of places, including Blackpool Tower Circus and the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, with more details to be announced in the coming weeks.

Like the Westminster services, the Palace says, the community events will recognise those who have gone above and beyond to help others.
