Firefighters tackle blaze at Dorchester cafe

Fire crews have been dealing with a blaze that happened this morning just after 3:30am.

In total around 50 firefighters have been present at the scene.

A number of road closures have been in place at South Street.

Dorchester fire station on social media stated:

"Dorchester, Weymouth (x2), Bridport (x2), Portland, Wareham, Beaminster, Blandford, Charmouth and Poole, together with an aerial ladder platform from Yeovil, a support appliance from Hamworthy and water carriers from Bridport and Yeovil - approx. 50 firefighters.

"The building has partially collapsed, and there is significant smoke in the local area. The fire is also affecting two adjacent properties via the roof spaces. No injuries have been reported, but a number of local residents have been moved to a safe place. "

It was confirmed that the cause of the fire is unknown, with an investigation set to be carried out in due course.
