Why hungryhouse is closing down after 12 years
Sad news
It's sad times for takeaway fans as hungryhouse has announced its closure after 12 years. The food ordering service joined the Just Eat family earlier this year and has since been working with Just Eat to integrate its systems before closing in May.
In an email sent to its members the company said, 'Yes, it's true. After twelve lovely years of helping you get your hands on the tastiest grub around, we're calling it a day.'
They continued, 'We’ll miss you, but we're not leaving you high-and-dry (and hungry!). Your favourite takeaway treats and more will still be available at Just Eat, and they'll be sure to look after you.
'The last day for orders on hungryhouse.co.uk will be 22nd May 2018.'
hungryhouse also took to Twitter to reveal the sad news explaining, 'This is not a drill, a joke or Fake News!'
The shock news has prompted some takeaway fans to respond to their announcement. One fan said, 'Your closing on the 22nd, damn you guys broke my heart. 😂' sic
Another commented, 'We're going to miss you guys so much! :('.
A further fan, although sad asked if they have 'Any good bye giveaways'. sic
To which the official account replied, 'Dry those eyes! We'll be sending out some goodies in the near future 😊'.
We're still waiting to find out what these goodies are, in the meantime it is possible to get cashback from the website Quidco.
So, while it's sad news for hungryhouse fans you can still use the service until the 22nd May, after which Just Eat will be taking over. For those of you who are a fan of a restaurant not currently available on Just Eat, but available on hungryhouse, then keep checking back as they should be available soon. In the meantime you can still order from hungryhouse.co.uk
According to the company website hungryhouse launched in 2006 with just nine restaurant partners. In 2007 the founders appeared on the BBC programme Dragons Den.
