The nation comes together for #ClapForOurCarers to thank our NHS
A number of celebrities uploaded their videos online
We all witnessed absolutely unbelievable scenes at 8pm last night (Thursday 26th March), when the nation joined together to take part in the #ClapForOurCarers campaign to thank all of our amazing NHS staff.
Taking place up and down the country, millions of thankful people stood on their doorsteps or at their windows to give a minute applause to the doctors, nurses, paramedics, carers or anybody else who works in the NHS, and it was certainly something to remember.
A number of celebrities also got involved in the #ClapForOurCarers campaign, including the The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who uploaded the cutest video of their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all taking part.
Posting the moment on Twitter, Kensington Palace wrote, 'To all the doctors, nurses, carers, GPs, pharmacists, volunteers and other NHS staff working tirelessly to help those affected by #COVID19: thank you.'
The official Royal Family account also tweeted a lovely video from Windsor Castle.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson was joined by Chancellor Rishi Sunak on Downing Street.
Boris wrote on Twitter, 'On behalf of the whole country, I want to thank all the incredible nurses, doctors, NHS support staff & carers who are working flat out to fight coronavirus Clapping hands sign #ClapForOurCarers #ClapForNHS
'To help them, and protect the NHS, we need everyone to stay at home #StayHomeSaveLives' (sic)
David Beckham was joined by three of his children, Cruz, Romeo, and Harper Seven, with the former England footballer writing, 'Happy to be able to come together with the whole country to thank the brave healthcare workers and our brilliant NHS working tirelessly in the fight against COVID-19♥️ #ClapForOurCarers @victoriabeckham @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #HarperSeven' (Sic)
McFly singer Tom Fletcher, who is known for his viral videos, shared an emotional post online, telling fans, 'Wow. That was powerful and emotional standing in our garden hearing people from miles around come out to clap, cheer, whoop, let of fireworks and even bang saucepans by the sound of it. We can see a hospital in the distance from our garden and it’s hard to imagine what’s going on inside them right now so to all those working in the NHS, thank you. I hope you heard us. All of us. 💙'. Sir Rod Stewart uploaded a video alongside his wife Penny and his family, with the singer telling fans, 'Our family want to say a huge thank you to everyone working in the NHS as well as to all the health care workers and emergency services that are helping keep Britain’s families safe in these extremely difficult times.'
After taking part in the #ClapForOurCarers campaign, former Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh posted a video with her eldest son Bobby, writing, 'Well that was incredibly emotional. Loved that we all had a few minutes to unite and feel how powerful that is. We are all in this together but the NHS are on the front line fighting for us every single day and I could not be more grateful. Each and every one of you are incredible there really are no words. Thank you thank you thank you #clapforourcarers #nhs @nhswebsite'. (sic)
The cast of upcoming James Bond movie No Time To Do also took part, including the man himself, Mr Daniel Craig and his wife Rachel Weisz.
A montage was tweeted from the official James Bond accounted, with a message reading, 'Thank you to everyone, everywhere, who is working to keep us safe. #ClapForOurCarers #ClapForCarers #ClapForNHS'. (sic)
Despite leaving the UK, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also showed their support to our NHS workers, writing on their Instagram Story,' Thank you for all that you continue to do! Applauding you from across the pond'.
Others countries across the world, including the likes of Spain, Italy and Dubai, have all taken part in similar shows of displays, each thanking their amazing heath care services and key workers throughout the Coronavirus pandemic.
