A woman has been bailed by police investigating the death of a man in Haverhill

A man in his 50s who died in Haverhill on Monday (2nd December) was killed by a crossbow bolt according to a post-mortem.

A 61-year-old woman arrested in connection with the death has been released on bail while police continue their investigation.

What happened in Haverhill?

Officers were called by the ambulance service at 7:53pm on 2nd December 2025 after reports that a man had suffered serious injuries at an address in Lordscroft Lane.

The ambulance service attended and provided treatment to the man, who was in his 50s.

However, he sadly died shortly after from his injuries.

A Home Office post-mortem was carried out on 4th December and confirmed the cause of death was a fatal injury caused by a crossbow bolt.

Woman arrested and bailed

The 61-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and questioned at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.

Detectives applied for extra time to question her at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning, before releasing her on police bail until 2nd March 2026 while enquiries continue.

A police scene remains in place at the Lordscroft Lane address as investigations continue.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact the Major Investigation Team.
