Police in West Yorkshire have named a woman who died following a fatal road traffic incident in Wakefield

Leah Senior, from Huddersfield, died on Wednesday (January 17th) when she fell out of a moving white transit van on Denby Dale Road in the town, sustaining major injuries.

Officers first responded to the scene to give emergency treatment to the 27-year-old, but despite their best efforts, Leah was sadly pronounced dead.

Investigations are now underway to establish how the incident took place and what the events were leading up to her death.

A 25-year-old man was been arrested by the force on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drug driving offences, but has since been released on bail as police continue with their enquiries.

Now, police in the area are looking to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Denby Dale Road and Hollin Lane between 8:20pm and 8:40pm.

Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who has footage of the incident or those who saw the van ahead of the events taking place.

Those with any relevant information are being urged to get in contact with the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team of West Yorkshire Police on 101 and quoting reference number 1604 from January 17th.
