Police have confirmed two of the dogs that were seized after a man was attacked and killed in Rubery last week are XL Bullies.

Nicholas Glass, 32, was discovered in a family member's garden on Hereford Close, Rednal, in the early hours of Wednesday morning (21 Aug).

A post-mortem revealed he had died as a result of injuries consistent with having been bitten by a dog.

Two dogs of the four dogs that were at the property were seized by police, while the other two escaped, sparking a police hunt.

They were found two days later.

Tests have now confirmed two of the dogs are XL Bullies. It is a banned breed, with any existing animals requiring a certificate of exemption, which neither of these dogs do.

West Midlands Police said: "Our enquiries into Nicholas’ death continue, and all four of the dogs remain in our secure kennels."

Nicholas' family said: “In Nicholas, we’ve lost a loving son, brother, and uncle who was adored by all of his family and friends.

“He was kind hearted, caring and compassionate and he’d do anything for anyone. We are devastated at his loss and we all miss him desperately.”
