An investigation has been launched into allegations that a Conservative MP sat at the front benches was caught watching pornography in the House of Commons.

The Sun and The Mirror newspapers reported that the incident took place during a meeting of MPs in the Commons on Tuesday night (April 26th).

Tory chief whip Chris Heaton-Harris said in a statement following the reports that the matter was being looked into.

A spokeswoman for the chief whip said: "The chief whip is looking into this matter. This behaviour is wholly unacceptable and action will be taken."

It comes as the row into sexism and misogyny in politics in Westminster deepens further, following claims deputy Labour leader Angela Rayner deliberately distracted the Prime Minister by crossing and uncrossing her legs.

At Prime Ministers Questions on Wednesday (April 27th), Labour leader Sir Kier Starmer called on Boris Johnson to reaffirm his condemnation of the allegations.

Mr Johnson agreed to slam the comments made by an unidentified Tory MP in the Mail on Sunday, saying that he had been in contact with Ms Rayner.

"I repeat what I said to her, there can be absolutely no place for such behaviour or such expression in this House and we should treat each other frankly, with the respect that each other deserves," she said.
