The three children found dead at a property in Sea Mills, Bristol, were a boy aged seven, a girl of three and a 10-month-old boy, police have said.

Officers were called out to a 'concern for welfare' in Blaise Walk, Sea Mills yesterday morning (18 February) at around 12.40am.

Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team are now investigating after three young children inside the property were pronounced dead a short time after officers attended the welfare call.

In a statement from police today (19/02), Chief Inspector Vicks Hayward-Melen said "Forensic post-mortem examinations will now be carried out on the children to establish the cause of death and it's important we don't give further detail on this until the proper processes have been carried out. The post-mortem examinations are not likely to be completed until the middle to the end of this week at the earliest."

"Formal identification has not yet taken place, but we believe the victims are a boy aged seven, a girl of three and a 10-month-old boy"

Chief Inspector Vicks Hayward-Melen added: "It's important to stress we are treating this as an isolated incident and we don't believe there to be any ongoing risk to the wider community.

"We've been humbled by the community response to this tragedy. At a time of great sadness and disbelief, we've seen spontaneous acts of care and support."

Avon and Somerset Police have referred themselves to the police watchdog, the IOPC due to having "prior contact".

They're asking for anyone who might have useful information to contact police on 101 using reference number 5224042788.
