Teenager dies following stabbing in Ipswich

An 18-year-old man has died following a stabbing in Ipswich.

It happened around 3:35pm in Westgate Street yesterday (Tuesday 17th January) afternoon.

Numerous police units were sent to search the local area for the suspects, including armed officers and a helicopter from the National Police Air Service.

Police are currently looking for two male suspects involved in the assault who were seen leaving the scene.

One's believed to have headed towards Providence Street and the other suspect was seen heading towards the Cornhill.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Connick said: “This was a brazen attack in the town centre which will have caused great distress to anyone who witnessed it. Whilst enquiries are at an early stage, we believe this to be a targeted attack

“There will be an increased police presence in Ipswich over the coming days to provide reassurance to local residents and businesses. We know that many people would have witnessed this attack and we urge you to make contact with us."
