Speedo Mick awarded Liverpool's Citizen of Honour accolade
Michael Cullen has raised over £1million for charity
A Liverpool man who has raised more than £1million for charity, while wearing little more than swimming trunks, has received the city's Citizen of Honour accolade.
Michael Cullen, popularly known as Speedo Mick, has been presented with the honour at Liverpool Town Hall by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Mary Rasmussen.
Mick has walked the length and breath of the UK, including a mammoth trek from John O'Groats to Land's End, climbing four mountains, and swimming the English Channel.
He has also completed some challenges while battling some incredibly difficult conditions - including Storm Ciara in February 2020 and Storm Dennis a week later.
He has raised money for more than 100 organisations - including charities that support disadvantaged young people and the homeless.
Mick said:
"I am overwhelmed and extremely grateful indeed to be awarded the Liverpool Citizen of honour Award.
"I cannot receive a more meaningful award as it is from my hometown of Liverpool, and it is this that means the world to me."
Citizen of Honour recognises people who've made an exceptional contribution to enriching the image of the city.
Other recent recipients include poet and performer Levi Tafari and Dr. Shiv Pande MBE.
