Police have confirmed they have charged a man with the murder of Kristine Sparane after her body was found in Spalding.

Officers said that 64-year-old Brian Simpson, from Nene Court in Spalding, had been charged with her murder.

Kristine's body had been discovered after Lincolnshire Police had received calls concerned for her welfare.

Police officers forced their way into a property on Winsover Road in the town just after 7:30pm on Tuesday (November 26th), where they sadly found her body.

In a previous update, investigators said they believe that Sparane and Simpson were known to each other before the attack took place.

Sparane's family have since been informed of her death and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Matt Dickinson from Lincolnshire Police's branch in Spalding said: "We understand that this incident is likely to be concerning for our community. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic death continues.

"Officers and staff from the investigation team remain at the scene and we will be continuing our inquiries for some time."

Simpson will now appear before Lincoln Magistrates' Court on Monday (December 2nd) charged in connection with her murder.

Meanwhile, anyone who may have any information pertaining to the case is being urged to speak to officers as soon as possible.

Those who might have any relevant information can speak to the force by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 332 from November 26th.
