Taylor Swift has shared an emotional statement following the attack in Southport on Monday (29th July). The singer took to her Instagram Stories to share the statement which read: 'The horror of yesterday's attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I'm just completely in shock...

'The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families and first responders.

'These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.'

Tributes have been coming in from across the world following the attack which happened just before midday on Monday morning. The King and Queen said what happened was "truly appalling".

The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, also shared a statement saying: "As parents, we cannot begin to imagine what the families, friends and loved ones of those killed and injured in Southport today are going through.

"We send our love, thoughts and prayers to all those involved in this horrid and heinous attack.

"Thank you also to the emergency responders who, despite being met with the most horrific scenes, demonstrated compassion and professionalism when your community needed you most."

Swifties for Southport

Three children have died and six are in a critical condition following a knife attack close to a Taylor Swift-themed yoga class. Following the events, a fundraiser has been set up by a Taylor Swift super fan. The fundraiser has now raised more than £78k at the time of writing.

We spoke to the fan, Cristina Jones, who set up the collection. She said: "I think we heard about 20 - 30 minutes after the news actually broke."

When asked if it was set up because it was a Taylor Swift themed event, she agreed: "It's pretty much the reason we knew we had to do something... the fact that it was a Taylor Swift (style) event and that's our community. Swifties are a very, very close knit community... We will rally around when we need to, and all across the world we've had donations, we've had people send support."
