Searches are underway for a 16-year-old boy, who has gone missing after swimming in water just outside of Cambridge.

Cambridgeshire Police say they were called by the ambulance service to Burnside Lakes in Cherry Hinton last night around 5:26pm.

It's reported the boy was swimming with friends when he got into difficulty.

The teenager, from Essex, is yet to be found, despite specialist teams attending the site.

His family have been informed, and searches continue at the lakes this morning.

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area whilst work is carried out.
