Thirteen people taken to hospital after serious Manchester bus crash
One person was pulled out from the top deck of the bus on Rochdale Road
Over a dozen people have been taken to hospital following a serious collision involving two buses on the edge of Manchester city centre.
The incident, which took place on Rochdale Road in the north east of the city, saw the Bee Network buses crash into each other early on Saturday morning (November 9th).
Emergency services have been at the scene, with police, fire and rescue services all being called to the area.
As well as this, an air ambulance was called to the scene to help airlift casualties to hospital for medical treatment.
In a statement, Greater Manchester's Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they had helped to get victims off the top deck of the bus.
"At around 8.45am this morning (Saturday 9 November), two fire engines from Phillips Park and Broughton fire stations were called to a crash involving two buses on Rochdale Road, Manchester," they said.
"Crews arrived quickly and worked with Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service to make the area safe.
"Firefighters extricated one person from the upper deck of the bus and 13 casualties were transferred to North Manchester General Hospital under the care of North West Ambulance Service. Fire crews were in attendance for just over an hour."
A third bus is also believed to have crashed into a metal fence, as it attempted to swerve around the colliding vehicles.
The crash has resulted in severe disruption on the road, with traffic being stopped until further notice while investigations into the crash continue.
