Oxford United are on the lookout for a new boss after confirming Matt Bloomfield has left the club.

The now League One side were relegated from the Championship with the U's finishing four points off safety.

Bloomfield arrived in January and replaced Gary Rowett who was dismissed before the end of the year.

His tenure started off positively enough in the league with draws against Bristol City and QPR followed by a deserved win at Leicester City but then two points from a possible 18 left the club fighting a real battle to stay up.

Even with West Brom suffering a points deduction it was not enough and Oxford United went down.

They say work is underway to appoint a new head coach.
