Man dies after entering water in Cornwall beach

A man has died after coming into difficulty in the water in Cornwall.

The incident happened at around 4pm, with the male reported to have entered the water to assist two family members who had got into difficulty.

Police statement "We were called by the Ambulance Service on Monday 25 May following a report of a man suffering a cardiac arrest in the sea at Tregirls Beach, Padstow.

It was reported he had entered the sea to try and assist two family members who had got into difficulty.

The family members were then brought to safety by members of the public.

Emergency services and the RNLI attended the scene but sadly, the local man in his 60s was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His next of kin are aware.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner."
