Man charged with attempted murder in Middlesbrough

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a serious assault in Middlesbrough.

A 68-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital with a serious head injury following the attack on Richmond Court on Thursday.

Alex Ibbetson, who's 33, has also been charged with common assault and is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said:

"A 33-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a serious assault in Middlesbrough.

"The attack happened on Thursday (2nd October) on Richmond Court.

"A 68-year-old man was taken to hospital in a critical condition after he suffered a head injury.

"He still remains in a critical condition.

"Alex Ibbetson, who's from Middlesborough, has also been charged with common assault and is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court today (4th October)."
