Man charged with arson after Harehills disorder

A number of new arrests were confirmed by police as well.

A 37-year-old man's been charged with arson and violent disorder after a bus was set on fire during disturbances in Harehills on Thursday night.

Iustin Dobre from Clifton Mount in the Harehills area, has been remanded in custody and will appear in court tomorrow.

Officers arrested a further five people on suspicion of violent disorder.

While four people who were initially arrested in connection with the violent disorder have been bailed pending further investigation.

West Yorkshire Police commented:

"Yesterday evening, a vigil was held in Harehills which passed off peacefully. There was an arrest of a woman on suspicion of a public order offence, she was released and given a conditional caution.

An increased police presence remains in place in the area and will do so over the coming days."
