Man bailed as investigation into boy's death on Cumbria farm continues

He was detained on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter

Police are continuing to investigate the death of an eight-year-old boy at a farm in Cumbria this morning.

A man arrested in connection with what happened has been bailed.

Emergency Services were called to the land north of Warcop on Saturday afternoon (28 September) where the boy had been shot - suffering head and face injuries

He passed away in hospital later.

A man in his 60s and from West Cumbria was detained on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter but has since been bailed.

Officers secured the firearm involved in the incident at the scene - and are now asking anyone who may have seen what happened or the moments beforehand, to come forward.
