Metropolitan Police officers are looking for a man who escaped a psychiatric hospital in south-west London.

Adil Maxamed remains unaccounted for with searches ongoing to find him after he was seen leaving the Springfield hospital with two other men on Friday night.

Breaking a glass door, the men absconded from the hospital on Glenburnie Road, before setting out into the city.

Officers were able to find and detain one of the men at 12:45am on Saturday morning (July 20th), after he was seen at a residential address in South London.

Ramon Martin, who's 31, was also later detained in the Clapham Junction area and has been returned to the hospital.

Ramon and Adil were brought to the hospital under the Mental Health Act with Ramon believed to have been injured during the breakout.

The last sighting of the pair together had been at 10:35pm when they entered Tooting Bec tube station and boarded a tube on the Northern Line. Enquiries following this last sighting remain ongoing.

Maxamed hasn't yet been found by officers and is believed to be connected to the Kingston area.

Currently, officers in the south-west department of the Criminal Investigation Department are handling the case, alongside specialist colleagues from across all branches of the Met Police.

An urgent investigation has been launched by the Met Police about the escape and the force is warning members of the public not to approach them should they see them.

Anyone who sees him is urged to dial 999 as soon as possible to report a sighting and not to approach.

Those who may have additional information regarding the incident can get in touch by dialling 101 and quoting incident reference number 8713/19Jul.
