Police shoot dog dead following attack on man in Lincoln
Officers say two dogs escaped and were a danger to the public
Lincolnshire Police have confirmed that they have shot a dog following an attack at a property in Lincoln.
Officers were first alerted to an incident taking place at a house near to Retief Close and Queen Elizabeth Road early on Sunday morning (September 8th).
Responders arrived following reports of a disturbance at the property, resulting in the arrests of three people - all of whom remain in police custody.
Whilst the arrests were taking place, two dogs escaped with one man being badly injured after sustaining a bite to his arm; he has since been taken to hospital.
According to the force, the two dogs presented a risk to the public and both dogs were sedated using darts.
However, for one dog, the sedatives were less effective, resulting in the dog remaining aggressive.
This resulted in the dog being shot by officers, with the second dog being taken to a vet to be treated.
A statement from the force said: "Officers remain in the area and we will provide further details when we can."
The exact breed of the dog is yet to be fully discerned, but the force confirmed that neither dog were XL bullies.
