England's women WIN the Euro 22 final

England have done us all proud after winning the Euro 2022 final, beating Germany 2-1 after extra time.

England brought it home and won their first major trophy in women's football.

England lift the European trophy at Wembley

The Lionesses beat Germany in the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 Final at Wembley with a European championship record crowd of 87,912.

The game went to extra time after being 1-1 at 90 minutes. Ella Toone put England ahead at 62 minutes and an equalizer for Germany from Lina Magull in the 79th minute.

It was England's Chloe Kelly with the winning goal though, scoring in the 111th minute.

The Queen has congratulated England on winning the European Women’s Football Championship saying: “Your success goes far beyond the trophy you have so deservedly earned”

Inspiring millions across the nation, Sarina Wiegman's squad topped Group A after winning all of their games, before beating Spain in the Quarter-Final and Sweden in the Semi-Final.

Germany were tough competition in the final, they are one of most successful in women's football and have won the Euros a record eight times, until today winning every final they've ever been involved in.

England’s route to the final

As hosts, England Women kicked off the Euros on Wednesday 6th July, going on to play and win three group stage games against Austria, Norway and Northern Ireland.

The Lionesses then won against Spain in the Quarter Final on Wednesday 20th July.

England then beat Sweden in the Semi-Final on Tuesday 26th July.

Then finally today they took on Germany in the final, winning 2-1 after extra time.
