Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne gave the Prince of Wales a kiss on the cheek after the pair met in a sandwich shop in Bournemouth.
The royal was in the town centre on Thursday as part of his five-year Homewards project to end homelessness in six locations.
William visited the Pret A Manger branch to discuss its plans to expand the chain's project to help 500 homeless people get jobs at Pret shops around the country.
Gascoigne shook hands with William before kissing him on the cheek.
The pair spoke for a couple of minutes and after meeting the footballer the prince said it had been a "very interesting morning".
"We even bumped into Gazza, he popped into (Pret)," he said.
Bournemouth is one of Homewards' six flagship locations, which also include Aberdeen, the London Borough of Lambeth, Newport, Northern Ireland and Sheffield.
