The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation after two men were stabbed in the London borough of Dagenham.

Officers were called to the scene by the London Ambulance Service at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday (April 20th), following reports of a person with stabbing injuries.

When responders arrived on the scene, they found emergency workers treating a man who had suffered serious injuries in the Rothwell Gardens in the east of the capital.

Following initial enquiries, leads soon brought them to a second man on Flamstead Road who had also suffered critical injuries consistent with being stabbed.

Despite their best efforts, the second man, who was aged 23 and had been seriously injured, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have now launched a probe into his death and are treating the situation as murder. Officers believe they know the identity of the victim and are working to get in touch with his family to inform them of his death.

The other victim was taken to hospital to be treated for his wounds. Police have described his condition as "non-life threatening", and was released from hospital soon afterwards.

However, police investigating the man's death arrested the other victim in connection with their enquiries. He currently remains in police custody.

As the investigation continues, Met Police offers from the Specialist Crime Department are leading the probe, and have appealed to the public for any potential leads.

Anyone who may have any relevant information pertaining to the case is being urged to get in touch with the force as soon as possible, quoting incident reference number 621/20APR.
