It's a day of disappointment for The Alex as they head back to Gresty Road empty handed.

Their incredible run to the League Two play-off final ended in defeat with a 2-0 loss to Crawley Town.

For Manager Lee Bell it was familiar territory but a different ending. He played at Wembley back in 2012 when the Railwaymen won the League Two-play off final against Cheltenham Town.

The Alex's journey to Wembley 2024 included a near-automatic promotion and four straight wins at the start of the year, moving them into contention for the top three. February ended in third position.

Their final 12 games into the play-offs only had two wins under their belt.

A 2-0 loss against Doncaster in the first leg play-off was followed by a 2-0 win in the second leg, securing their spot in the final after 4-3 on penalties. Doncaster 0-2 Crewe (2-2 agg).
