A 12 year old has been injured after being hit by a van at a drive thru restaurant in Oldham.

Police were called to Manchester Road in Hollinwood just after 3.00pm yesterday afternoon.

The teenager was taken to hospital where their injuries are described as 'life-changing'.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "Emergency services responded to a road traffic collision in Hollinwood involving a van and a child.

"At around 3.06pm yesterday (Friday 26 January), police were called to a road traffic collision at a drive thru restaurant on Manchester Road.

"The 12-year-old child suffered life-changing injuries and was taken to hospital.

"The male driver of the van was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.

"He remains in police custody and the investigation is ongoing."
