The Christmas Eve Jingle is nearly here! At 6pm on 24 December, people around the world will unite in ringing their bells for two minutes to feel a sense of togetherness.

The idea started in Harrogate, when mum Mary Beggs-Reid thought they should let Santa know that people are still expecting him.

The campaign has since gone viral, with almost half a million households around the world signed up to join the jingle.

As well as ringing bells, people are encouraged to pick up the phone and ring loved ones who may be alone this Christmas.

Over 475,000 people have joined the Facebook group for the event, where people from around the world, including Canada, the USA, Turkey, and Sweden have posted messages and pictures wishing each other a happy Christmas.

Posts also include funny festive anecdotes, advice on how to stop your turkey from drying out and tips for games to entertain the family.

Meanwhile, others have taken to Twitter, using the hashtag #christmasevejingle to spread the word.

Even some celebrities have got involved!

Organiser, Mary, spoke to Prime Minister Boris Johnson about the event during a phone call on Tuesday.

Speaking of the phone call, Mary said: "I think it's fantastic that the Prime Minister is getting behind an everyday mum like me and trying to help communities as much as we can.''

So why not join in the fun to help create a wave of bells with a bit of magic, hope and true Christmas spirit!
