Runner dies after Cardiff Half Marathon

They were taken to the University Hospital of Wales where they later died

Organisers have said a runner died following the Cardiff Half Marathon.

The runner was given medical attention by the emergency team near to the finish line before being taken to the University Hospital Wales, where they later died.

A spokesman for Run 4 Wales, the organisers of the event said: "This is a terrible tragedy and our deepest sympathies go out to the runner’s family.

"In respect for the participant's family at this difficult time, no further details will be released."
