Today marks one year since the passing of a national hero, Captain Sir Tom Moore.

On the anniversary of Captain Sir Tom’s death, his family remembers him and is proud to continue his legacy through The Captain Tom Foundation.

Captain Sir Tom Moore walked 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday for the NHS during the first national Covid-19 lockdown, which inspired the world.

Captain Tom became the 'world's grandfather'

Captain Tom became a figure of inspiration and admiration when he showed how much you can still achieve.

Since his, his daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore created a Captain Tom Day which will bring the generations together to celebrate older age groups. The day aims to spark conversation, learning and compassion across different age groups and ensure we feel more connected.

Hannah Ingram-Moore, Captain Tom's Daughter said: "It feels it so many ways like five minutes so often it feels like he's still here. He lived in our house for the last 13 years of his life. It's indelible; it is not erasable. He is in the very fabric of our building. He left this incredible lasting legacy of hope, not just to us here in the UK, but to people around the world.

"He became the world’s grandfather, I can continue to see and feel him in everything. That has been magical. On the other hand, there’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think about and miss him.

"He had a twinkle in his eye; as you all saw. There's no question in my mind that he would think we were on the right tracks, and he would quietly be smiling and thinking 'what's all the fuss about?' but rather loving all of it."
