A bull which was seen charging at people in a Cheshire village has been shot dead.

Police were called to Wells Avenue in Haslington near Crewe yesterday morning (Wednesday) at 8:50am, where the bull was on the loose.

Local officers, supported by firearms officers, attended the scene and local residents, including the nearby school, were advised to stay inside as the bull in its agitated state posed an immediate threat to their safety.

Attempts were made to bring him to safety, but officers decided the risk of a serious accident was too high and the bull was shot before anyone was seriously hurt.
