The two teenagers found guilty of the brutal murder of Brianna Ghey in Warrington have been named.

16-year-old Scarlett Jenkinson from Warrington and 16-year-old Eddie Ratcliffe from Leigh had their anonymity removed by the courts in a rare move as they were sentenced for the murder of Brianna in 2023.

The pair were 15 when they stabbed Brianna 28 times in a vicous attack in Culcheth Linear Park on 11th February 2023.

Due to their age they could not be named outside of the court and were known as Girl X and Boy Y.

The Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act allows the criminal court to prevent the publication of anything that would identify that young person as a defendant, until that person reaches 18.

The judge - Mrs Justice Yip decided to accept a media application to reveal their identities as they were sentenced - a move which is often only seen in the most serious of cases.

The notebook of a killer

Scarlett Jenkinson made a series of chilling notes, studying murder and prolific serial killers. She even wrote down the plan of how to kill Brianna

She had been lured to Culcheth Linear Park by her attackers, who we now know as Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe after accepting an invitation to hang out with them.

During the four week trial, the court heard how both defendants had planned the killing for weeks had a fascination for violence, torture and murder

It was revealed that they had a so-called 'kill list' which featured Brianna's name, along with a number of other children which they allegedly wanted to harm.

A murder plan had been written by Jenkinson detailing exactly how the would carry out the attack on the transgender teenager.

The two 15-year-olds were arrested simultaneously at their homes by Cheshire Police on 12 February 2023.

Both denied murder and tried to blame each other for Brianna's death.

After a four week trial it took the jury just five hours to reach their verdicts.
