The body of a child has been found in the River Swale in North Yorkshire.

Emergency services were called to Richmond at 5pm yesterday (16 August) to reports a 12-year-old boy had entered the water, and hadn't been seen since.

Search teams attended, and a body was found late last night.

The body is yet to be identified but the boy’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specially-trained officers.

North Yorkshire Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.
