Thames Valley Police are appealing for information after a man had his jaw broken after being pulled over by a fake police car.

The incident took place on the M40 heading southbound between Beaconsfield and High Wycombe last Sunday evening (October 20th).

At around 9:15pm, a man in his 30s had been driving when he was hit by another motorist, causing minor damage to his vehicle.

A second vehicle then proceeded to show blue lights, indicating to the victim to pull over at Junction 2 of the motorway.

After pulling into the nearest layby on the A355, a group of men got out of the car and assaulted the victim after pulling him out of his car.

The gang ultimately committed grievous bodily harm against the victim, as well as stealing his phone, keys and wallet.

When he was eventually seen to by emergency services, it was determined the victim had suffered a broken jaw and a broken eye socket, requiring him to be taken to hospital.

The men are believed to have been travelling in both a red Nissan car and a dark coloured Volvo.

Speaking about the case, PC Mollie Dugmore leading the investigation, said: "Impersonating a police officer is an offence that we will not tolerate, and we are appealing for information following this incident."

She added: "We ask anyone with mobile phone, CCTV or dash-cam footage from the M40 or the surrounding areas at around 9.10pm to get in touch with the force in case it has captured something which may assist this investigation."

Those with any information can get in touch with the force by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 43240506514.
