As the iPhone turns ten this year, fans of technology giant Apple have been eagerly anticipating the release of the new model, the iPhone 8 or iPhone X, and it seems we finally have some details of when that will be.
When is the Apple event being held?
Apple has sent out invites to a special event today (September 12th 2017) as well as posting a link to the invite on their website.
How can I watch Apple's Special Event?
You’ll need to use the Safari browser on Mac, iPhone, or iPad or the Microsoft Edge browser on PC to watch today's event. Alternatively you can download the Apple Events app for Apple TV and watch it there.
What time is the Apple event?
Apple's latest event will take place at 10am PDT time, which is 6pm UK time.
Where is the 2017 Apple event being held?
The event is the first one that will be held in Cupertino, California at the Steve Jobs Theater, which will have a formal unveiling to the public on the 12th September 2017. The past few years Apple’s iPhone launches have been held at the Moscone or Bill Graham Centre in San Francisco.
Will Apple unveil the iPhone 8 on September 12th?
It is expected that the Apple iPhone 8 or iPhone X will be announced at the event as well as an Apple iPhone 7S. We are due to be in the 'S' year but due to it being Apple's tenth anniversary it is widely expected that the iPhone 8 will be announced either in the place of or in addition to the 'S' model.
The launch of a new set of phones is a great opportunity for Apple to demonstrate the capabilities of the next version of Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS 11, which has been available to developers in beta mode and will be available for consumers soon.
What could the iPhone 8 look like?
The iPhone 8 is expected to drop the home button in favour of a screen that covers almost all of the phone that is being tipped as being the best screen Apple has produced.
It's also expected to have wireless charging which will be better than the iPhone 7 which the user can't charge and listen to headphones at the same time unless they're wireless.
How much could the iPhone 8 cost?
When it was launched the iPhone 7 started at ÂŁ539 for the 32GB model and went up to ÂŁ919 for the iPhone 7 Plus 256GB. It's expected that this iPhone will be the most expensive yet.
What technology will Apple unveil at their 12th September event?
Apple are expected to launch the iPhone 8, iPhone 7S, a new Apple Watch, a new version of the Apple TV and could perhaps focus on pushing previous products like the Apple Airpods.
