Mel Giedroyc has praised her Great British Bake Off replacement Noel Fielding ahead of his debut later this year.
It was revealed last week that Mel had texted Noel before the news was announced that he was taking over as host on the show, and she says gave her his blessing.
'We were in quite a lot of touch, and I passed him the seeded baton, the seeded baguette', Mel joked.
Fans were devastated when it was announced, first, that Mel and comedy partner Sue Perkins would be stepping down from their hosting roles on the Bake Off, and, second, when Noel and Sandi Toksvig were announced as their replacements.
'It will be different and better, and if it's better, I'll be livid!, she reflected.
She also added a warning to her replacement, saying 'If it is better, i'll be coming for you Fielding!'.
It was almost a national tragedy when we got the news that, after being bought by Channel 4, The Great British Bake Off would lose three of it's core ingredients, Mel, Sue and Mary Berry.
The announcement that the trio were stepping away came like a ton of bricks for many, and Mel admits it was a bit of an unusual way to end her time on the show.
'It's a sad thing, and it's a bit of a weird thing, but we had seven incredible years on the show', Mel said, adding 'that's about 150 years in showbiz!'
'I feel like Sue and were given an amazing gift, and we loved it.'
'I hope we passed it on in a good way.'
