Viewers spotted a major gaffe in the Doctor Foster finale

Last night’s finale of Doctor Foster has left a lot of people with mixed feelings, including most of Twitter.

On the one hand, we’re still trying to slow down our hearts and steady our shaking hands after that dramatic jumping in front of cars debacle. But on the other hand, what was that ending?

However it wasn't just the ending that was bothering viewers. One of the major talking points from last night’s episode involves the champagne cork from that flashback scene in which Gemma and Simon are sitting in the garden.

To recap, the couple were sitting together on their patio in happier times chatting about Tom, when Simon popped the bottle. This was when viewers started noticing a huge continuity error.

In the first shot, the cork appeared to be plastic, it then went flying somewhere far away in the garden.

But in the next shot, the cork had magically come flying back to Simon’s hand and even more impressively, it had turned into a cork made of cork, rather than plastic.

Did they have a stunt cork?!

Predictably, Twitter went mad with the realisation.

However, we're not stopping there, as this wasn't the only thing that viewers took issue with. Many viewers also found it hard to understand how Simon lost everything he owned, but somehow still had this cork years later. Again taking to Twitter to vent their confusion publicly.
