Netflix confirm The Watcher is renewed for another season

When The Watcher dropped on Netflix on 13th October, it was an instant success with fans who love a mystery thriller. Now, the series has been renewed for a second season along with another series from executive producer Ryan Murphy.

Netflix took to their socials to share the exciting news of the series' renewal, along with another two instalments of the Monster series, following the success of DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

Writing on Twitter they announced: 'Following the record-breaking success of DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Ryan Murphy & Ian Brennan will create two more installments that will focus on other monstrous figures who have impacted society.

'A second season of The Watcher has also been greenlit!'

As yet, there is no word on exactly what the second season will be about, however as fans will know the first series followed the Brannock family. The plot, based on a true story, followed the Brannocks as they moved from Downtown New York to the sleepy suburbs.

However, soon after moving in, they started to receive some anonymous, creepy letters from someone calling themselves The Watcher.

Keen to protect his family, Dean Brannock, hired a private investigator after finding the local police were unable to help him and his family, as the continued to receive anonymous letters.

After just five days, the TV show racked up a massive 125 million viewing hours, and ended up in the Top 10 in 90 countries around the world, so fans will be excited to hear of another series on the way.

Who starred in The Watcher?

The series featured a well-known cast of Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts as parents Dean and Nora Brannock, along with Jennifer Coolidge, Mia Farrow, Margo Martindale, Terry Kinney, Joe Mantello, Richard Kind, Noma Dumezweni, Christopher McDonald, Michael Nouri, Isabel Gravitt, Henry Hunter Hall, and Luke David Blumm.

The Watcher series one is available to watch on Netflix now.
