The Inbetweeners set for a comeback as creators sign new deal
The original cast are keen to reprise their roles

It last aired in October 2010, with the second movie arriving in 2014, but more than 10 years on from The Inbetweeners, news sounds promising that Will MacKenzie, Simon Cooper, Neil Sutherland and Jay Cartwright could be about to reunite!
Are The Inbetweeners reuniting?
On Monday 13th October news broke that a deal had been struck between the show's creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, and production firm Banijay UK, in turn unlocking the rights of the show with the potential of its return across film, TV and stage.
Iain Morris and Damon Beesley said of the news: "It's incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends)."
Although it's not yet known if the show will involve a TV series, movie, or stage adaptation, it sounds like the original cast are on board and keen to reprise their roles, and talks are reportedly now underway.
When will it come out?
As nothing has been announced just yet, it's not yet known when The Inbetweeners reunion will happen.
What have the cast said?
Since the second movie landed back in 2014, Joe Thomas, Simon Bird, Blake Harrison, and James Buckley have all spoken about a potential return.
Joe, who played the role of Simon Bird on the sitcom, revealed at the end of August 2024 that the cast would be keen to reunite, going on to admit talks had already taken place in 'various forms'.
During an appearance on the Always Be Comedy podcast, Joe admitted his co-stars Simon, Blake and James were keen, adding: "We all think it would be nice to do."
Discussing ideas of a potential reunion at the time, Joe revealed another film is more likely than a new series, saying: “You'd have to have a very, very clever device for doing another series. A movie, I think works with the right idea. It would be challenging to do another series, just because of the timeline. But with the film, there are all sorts of options."
The actor, who has appeared in other shows such as White Gold and Fresh Meat, did go on to admit he would be anxious that it was able to live up to expectation.
He added: “Everybody’s anxiety would be, 'Will it be as good?' That’s the big question we’d be facing.”
HOWEVER, a few weeks later in September 2024, Simon Bird seemingly put an end to the rumours, whilst speaking to Mail Online.
Shutting the rumours down at the time, he told the publication: "I'm afraid to be the one pouring cold water on this but it's not happening. I can tell you emphatically that there are no prospects of a reunion."
He went on to say: "We'd be happy to but it's not up to us, it's up to the writers, Iain and Damon, and I know they're both very busy these days.
"It's not more likely to happen now than it was ten years ago I'm afraid.
"I think it was a comedy that inhabited a certain time and, well, I think I caused quite a storm on social media in a previous interview where I said it wouldn't be made now but I'm not sure it would.
"So no there have been no discussion about a new show or film."
When was The Inbetweeners on TV?
The Inbetweeners was made up three series, airing between May 2008 and October 2010 on E4.
All three series included six episodes.
When did The Inbetweeners movies come out?
Following the success of the TV series, bosses decided to produce The Inbetweeners Movie in August 2011, following the group as they enjoyed a holiday together in Malia.
After making a huge £57 million at the global box office, a follow-up movie called The Inbetweeners 2 was then released in August 2014, following the boys as they travelled Australia.

Airing for a huge 10 series between 2007 and 2018, ITV/STV sitcom Benidorm was a huge hit with fans. Ever since the show ended, fans have been begging creator Derren Litten to create more, with rumours rife in April 2025 that bosses are considering maybe bringing the show back.
The Bill
First broadcast in 1983, police drama The Bill certainly proved popular, airing until 2010. The show focused on the lives and work of police officers and starred well-known actors such as Trudie Goodwin, Graham Cole and Mark Wingett.

Who remembers sitting down in front of the TV on a Saturday night, watching on as Davina McCall helped members of the public take on tough and fearful challenges?
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
She was confident, funny, magical AND she had a talking cat. Sabrina made us all want to be a witch! The show was also rebooted between 2018 and 2020 as a Netflix series called Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Ugly Betty
Believe it or not, it's been a massive 16 years since Ugly Betty last aired on our screens! The show, which featured actress America Ferrera, followed a character called Betty Suarez, who despite her lack of 'style', landed a job at a very prestigious fashion magazine.
Where The Heart Is
The British drama, which was filmed in the Yorkshire town of Skelthwaite, proved very popular with viewers between 1997-2006, showcasing the lives of a group of district nurses and their families.
It's a Knockout
It was stupid, it was crazy, but it was certainly fun! It's a Knockout started way back in 1966, but the show made a number of returns on BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5!
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
We'd love to see Will Smith get back into his character alongside Carlton Banks, however we got the next best thing in 2022, with the Fresh Prince reboot called Bel Air, where Jabari Banks played Will Smith.
Stars In Their Eyes
A true classic! Stars In Their Eyes, originally hosted by Leslie Crowther, first aired in 1990 with Matthew Kelly taking over in 1993. The show did make a return with Harry Hill in 2015, but it didn't quite take off!
The Queen's Nose
Who would have thought that rubbing a 50p coin would be so interesting? We used to love watching the adventures of Harmony as she used up her magic wishes.
Gossip Girl
Although the show was given a reboot in 2021 with a brand new cast, it didn't live up to expectations of the original series, which aired between 2007-2012.

The Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang Theory was on TV from 2007 until 2019. The show centred around two physicists who shared an apartment, Johnny Galecki as Leonard Hofstadter and Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper, and their friendship with Penny, played by Kaley Cuoco, who lived opposite.

Game of Thrones lasted for eight seasons between 2011 – 2019. The show starred Sean Bean as Eddard 'Ned' Stark and Kit Harington as Jon Snow.
House of Dragons is the prequel but we really wish we'd have gotten more (or another ending) to the original Game of Thrones TV show. Who knows, maybe when the last book is out they might make some more episodes…
