A Grease prequel series 'Rise of the Pink Ladies' is in the works

American streaming service Paramount Plus have given the green light to a Grease prequel series set four years before Danny and Sandy's romance and will focus on the Pink Ladies' rise to power at Rydell High.
Before rock ‘n’ roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school, four fed-up, outcast girls dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever.
We can expect to see the return of the iconic members of the group who we met in the 1978 movie - Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty, and Jan - as well as some new characters joining the 10 episode spinoff series.
Grease told the story of lovers Danny and Sandy who met on a summer fling, but things changed for Danny when he returned to Rydell High and discovered that Sandy would was now a student at his school. With the added pressure of popularity at school things changed very quickly for the lovers.
The film was the highest-grossing live-action musical of all time until it was knocked off the top spot by Disney live-action re-makes of Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King. However with songs such as 'Summer Lovin'', 'Greased Lightning' and 'You're the One That I Want' Grease is still a fan favourite!
As Rise of the Pink Ladies will be heading to Paramount Plus which currently isn't available in the UK, we don't yet know which channel or streaming service will be picking it up for British viewers to enjoy.
