With news of the Celebrity Traitors cast doing the rounds on social media earlier this week, featuring huge names such as Bob Mortimer, Clare Balding, Alan Carr and Jonathan Ross, excitement is rife for the show to land on BBC One.

Although there's no word on an official start date just yet, filming is reportedly taking place at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands as we speak, and now one famous name who was wanted by bosses, has spoken out as to why he's turned down the show.

Why is Martin Lewis not on Celebrity Traitors?

Money saving expert Martin Lewis was heavily rumoured to be taking part in the first ever celebrity edition of the hit show, but after his name wasn't included in the line-up, the 52-year-old has now revealed exactly why.

He wrote on his social media channels: 'I’m no Traitor (sadly)

'I've got FOMO looking at the Celebrity Traitors line up. I was asked if I wanted to do it, but said no as I couldn't commit the time.

'I hadn't watched it then (but watched the last series after that & loved it) so now feel a little gutted - though I still don't have the time.

'Sigh!'

Martin's followers had mixed reviews in regards to him appearing, one wrote: 'I don’t think it would have been good for your ‘brand’ to go on there. Love what you do already do though', with another adding: 'Mate your single handed keeping the UK public from bankruptcy, you don't have the time! I really appreciate your help though!'. (sic)

A third wrote: 'I wouldn’t want you on there. I love the show and I’m no fan of reality tv, but I’m glad you don’t have time anyway. We trust you. Can’t jeopardise that for a bit of telly'. (sic)

However, others begged Martin to make time for the next series, with one writing: 'MAKE THE TIME FOR NEXT SEASON YOU WOULD BE ACE 👏'.

Another added: 'Omg you would be ICONIC', with another saying: 'Ohhhh you would have been soooo good!! 🙌❤️'. (sic)

Who is taking part?

Although Martin had to turn the show down, 20 famous names have signed up, including Kate Garraway, Celia Imrie, Mark Bonnar and Stephen Fry.
