Love Island's Harrison and Lauren give big relationship update

News rocked the Love Island villa earlier this month that Harrison Solomon had chosen to quit the show, with reasons for his exit made more clear during the episode on Friday night (17th July), as love interest Lauren Wood was brutally dumped following the arrival of bombshell Angel Swift.

Why did Harrison quit?

Although he didn't leave immediately, despite Lauren asking him to, the 22-year-old chose to pack his bags and leave the villa the following evening, leading to Harrison and Lauren having an emotional reunion.

The pair's reunion was shown during an episode of spin-off show Aftersun, where Harrison confessed he saw Lauren as somebody who could be his girlfriend.

Speaking to bosses after his exit, Harrison said about Lauren: "We’ll make the distance work! It will be no issue. We left on good terms but the two days prior to leaving we weren’t talking properly so it would be good to have a conversation, get everything out in the open and hopefully move forward from there.

"I feel very strongly about the girl, I wouldn’t have left if I didn’t. I have no doubt in my mind that she’ll be my girlfriend one day. I’m buzzing to see her and reunite! She’s such a great girl."

Speaking about his decision to leave, he added: "When Lauren left the Villa, my Love Island experience just wasn’t the same. I felt like my journey was finished which is why I decided to leave. When Lauren first got the text saying she was being dumped my initial reaction to her leaving was ‘I’m going’. I came here and found what I wanted. Having said that, I didn’t want to make an emotional decision, I’m quite an indecisive person and so I wanted to take my time with it, rather than leave and regret what I’d done.

"The fact I stayed a day later and processed everything really helped me. Me leaving was making a big statement. It shows her I’m really into her and see a serious future with her."

Lauren also spoke to Love Island bosses following her shock exit, where she confessed a reunion with Harrison was a possibility.

She said: "Yes, 100%. I’d love to see where it could go. I’m hoping that he comes out so that we can be together. I see myself being with him long term as I haven’t had a connection like that with someone in such a long time. I know what we had was real despite what everyone else thinks. He has done wrong and made stupid mistakes, but he knows that and believes it was the wrong thing to do."

Are Harrison and Lauren still together?

Despite all of the drama on this series surrounding Harrison, it looks like he's finally got his happy ending with Lauren, with the pair being papped packing on the PDA in London just days after their exit.

Lauren shared the photos to her Instagram page, alongside the caption: 'I found what I came here for🤍'. (sic)

On Thursday 31st July, Harrison and Lauren appeared on Lorraine, where they confessed to stand-in host Christine Lampard that they are now 'exclusive'.

He said: "So we're exclusive. We're dating. I've only got eyes for Lauren. The big thing for me was my family and actually they came down to London last night and we all went for food together.

"So I've met her family and she's met mine as well. So boyfriend and girlfriend will be coming very soon. I guarantee that."

Earlier in July, Lauren also shared a photo alongside Harrison to her Instagram page, where the semi-pro footballer can be seen kissing her head.

Lauren captioned the photo with: 'It was always you.❤️'.
