After two months, major ups and downs and a ton of drama, the 2018 Love Island final took place on Monday night, with Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer winning £50,000 ahead of their fellow Islanders.

And while the whole nation more or less knew the result before Caroline Flack announced it, viewers were left more shocked that relatively new couple Laura Anderson and Paul Knops finished in second place ahead of both Josh Denzel and Kaz Crossley and Wes Nelson and Megan Hanson-Barton.

According to reports, broadcasting standards agency Ofcom received a number of complaints about Laura and Paul finishing in second place, due to the fact they were the only couple in the final not to be official 'boyfriend and girlfriend'.

A number of viewers also took to Twitter to complain during Monday night's big finale...

However, just days later, the pair were dumped from the villa in a cruel twist which involved their fellow Islanders deciding their fate.
