On Monday night's first look Hollyoaks on E4, the mystery of who really killed Amy Barnes was finally solved. Now the episode has aired on Channel 4, viewers all know that the mystery person who murdered Amy wasn't Harry Thompson but in fact someone a LOT closer to home.

WARNING SPOILERS

The person who murdered Amy on her wedding day was in fact her new husband Ryan Knight, played by Duncan James. It seems the Detective has been sabotaging the inquiry into Amy's death and tampered with evidence to cover his tracks. As Amy's body is set to be exhumed it seems that Ryan is set to interfere in the investigation to ensure he doesn't get caught.

Last month viewers saw Ste Hay, played by Kieran Richardson, find out that his partner Harry, played by Parry Glasspool, had pushed Amy over during a fight and that she'd banged her head.

However a few days later viewers saw that Amy was well and truly alive when a mystery figure entered the apartment and now we know it was actually Ryan. As Amy confronts her cheating husband and accuses him of being gay, Ryan tries to silence her, with fatal results. Watch the moment here:

Elsewhere in Hollyoaks, Harry's dad, Tony Hutchinson, is seen struggling to come to terms with his son committing a murder. He's angered that Harry didn't stop and call an ambulance to make sure Amy was ok, which it seems could have certainly saved her just for different reasons.

Duncan James admitted to Radio Times he was 'gutted' to find out his character was the real killer. He revealed, "I wanted him to have really loved Amy and to carry on being the genuine man he came into the show to be. It’s a shame he didn’t get that opportunity to be the good guy – but at the same time it’s great having the storyline that has stemmed from the reveal because it’s actually good fun to play a baddie!"

Bad guys don't always stick around long after their found out, although Warren Fox is doing a pretty good job so who knows, maybe Duncan James will be on our screens for a lot longer!
