He wrote, 'A wonderful journey, with wonderful people. Thank you to everyone at Hollyoaks, the staff throughout the building, the production team, the prod secs, post production, make up, costume, design, tech, lighting, cameras, sound and all the lovely directors, D.o.p's and actors Iv had the opportunity to work with and learn from. The best 4 years of my life. So again, Thank YOU Hollyoaks ❤ #goodbyefreddieroscoe'

Fans responded to the news on Twitter...

Charlie's character Freddie has been involved in a number of big storylines over the last few years. Most recently fans have witnessed him going through a tough time after discovering his girlfriend Ellie had been raped.

Charlie first joined Hollyoaks back in 2013 as he landed in the village along with the Roscoe family.

After a number of deaths in the family including Ziggy and Joe, Freddie was left alone when his mum, Jason and Robbie all moved away.

Hollyoaks are yet to confirm how Freddie will leave the soap, but with Roscoe history, we can't imagine it will be a quiet ending.
