Emmerdale spoilers: Terror at Tall Trees

Having once again been enlisted to help rob a van, a tentative Billy awaits instruction from mastermind Max.

But what Max doesn't realise is that the police have been tipped off, and are waiting around the corner to intercept their robbery attempt.

As Max rounds the corner he's shocked to be faced with armed police, and Billy looks on, pleased his tip off has gone off without a hitch

As Max is taken away in handcuffs, Billy grows concerned when he's told by DS Sanders that they can't promise that Max won't be told it was Billy who tipped them off.

With Billy once again fearing for his safety, Marlon, Jessie and April arrive back at Tall Trees to find Max already lain in wait.

The terrified family huddle in the doorway as a vengeful Max menacingly flashes the metal of a gun, and demands that Jessie call Billy.

Across town at the village football match, Billy finally looks at his phone and his horrified by the voice messages from his mum. Billy speeds off back home, with Ellis in tow, to confront Max.

Arriving back at home farm, Billy comes face to face with Max's gun, which is pointed right at his head. A tussle ensues before a gunshot sounds, leaving somebody fighting for their life.

On her way to meet with her son, Lucas, an anxious Dawn is left feeling even more in edge as she's approached by Harriet who grills on her on the subject of Will.

Arriving at the care facility and laying eyes on Lucas, Dawn falls instantly in love with him, and doesn't mind at first that he pays her no attention.

As the visit continues, the social worker introduces Dawn and encourages him to interact with her, but Lucas refuses and continues to ignore her.

Humiliated and disappointed, Dawn ends the visit having not been able to connect with Lucas at all. The social worker reassures her not to take it personally, but Dawn is stung.

Back at Woodbine, Harriet invites Will inside and asks for a hand with the washing up, unfinished business hanging in the air.

Meanwhile, when Dawn stumbles upon Laurel and Jai embracing, Laurel informs her that Harriet and Jai were never really together and Dawn's suspicions peak. Arriving at Woodbine to confront Harriet, Dawn is shocked to find them together.

With their cover story unravelling, Jai and Laurel swerve another close call when Rishi arrives at the factory and nearly catches them kissing.

Relieved not have been caught, their elation quickly turns to disappointment when Rishi tells Jai that with Billy out of action, he needs him to replace him as delivery driver.

Their dinner plans ruined, Jai sends the factory workers out on a long lunch so he and Laurel can spend some quality time together. As their canoodling, they're interrupted by Dawn.

Meanwhile the village football match is in full swing, with most of the town turned out to watch them play.

But the stakes are higher than they expected when Bear learns that the opposing team's manager is ex-footballer and pundit Chris Kamara.

With Bear managing the village team, Paddy is eager to impress the sporting legend and watches avidly from the sidelines.

At the Woolpack, Bernice and Nicola are having a catch up when Bernice accidentally knocks Liam's bag over, spilling the contents.

They're both unnerved when they come across a sinister looking black balaclava, and wonder what Liam has been up to.

Later on a Brook Cottage, Bernice musters the courage to confront Liam about the balaclava they found in his bag. What does he have to say for himself?
