Two major characters set to leave EastEnders in dramatic exit

It has been confirmed by soap bosses that two, much-loved, major characters are set to leave EastEnders in the coming months.
Jacqueline Jossa and Lorna Fitzgerald, who play on-screen sisters Lauren and Abi Branning, will be written out of the show in what is sure to be a dramatic exit, much to the disbelief of many fans.
A spokesperson for the show said, "We can confirm that Jacqueline and Lorna will be leaving EastEnders.
"They have both been wonderful to work with and we wish them all the best for the future."
Lauren is struggling to keep it together, she tells Abi about Steven’s tumour.
These changes take place as new soap boss John Yorke started in June and has shaken things up with sadly the sister duo just some of the first to go.
A source close to the soap told a national newspaper, "John has form for creating huge plots, so they’re in safe hands over their departure.
"It will be one of the biggest on-screen moments of the year.
"Sometimes a great storyline comes at the cost of losing some characters. The cast will be sorry to see them go."
Jacqueline, who married former The Only Way Is Essex star Dan Osborne in June this year, apparently seemed to reference the news of her character's exit on Instagram posting a photo of the on-screen sisters with love hearts in the caption.
Both actresses have been in the series for many years with Jacqueline playing Lauren for seven years, taking over from Madeline Duggan who played the role from 2006 to 2010.
Meanwhile Lorna, has been playing her on-screen sister Abi for 11 years.
Although the exact details of their dramatic exit have not yet been revealed, it is thought they will be leaving the show as part of a Christmas storyline.
EastEnders is most definitely going through a dramatic period at the moment with just last week the viewers witnessing a bus and ambulance crash, a fire, and the death of Steven Beale.
Just moments before Steven's death he declared his love for Abi after he discovered she was carrying his baby, having had an affair with her behind her sister's back!
As news broke that the Branning sisters were due to leave the popular soap fans of the show took to Twitter to express how much they will miss the characters.
