Way back in 2017, Ant and Dec revealed they would be up for an SM:TV reunion with their former co-host Cat Deeley, saying at the time, "We've had discussions about it, and it looks like it's gonna go ahead – not this September, but next September."

Then in 2019, ITV shared a throwback of Ant and Dec with Cat Deeley, inviting their followers to take part in a Christmas quiz. With the TV channel saying, 'C is for a Christmas CD:UK! Can you guess what act and song was at Christmas number one when this photo was taken… hint it was CD:UK’s very first year.'

And now, the pair have got fans excited all over again by tweeting two pics, one of the reunited trio, and the other from back in the day with the caption, 'Excited? #reunion'.

Since the pair shared the pics it's been liked more than 18k times with fans replying to the tweet saying, 'So excited for this we needed it x can't wait for this', and 'We LOVE smtv so much, we’ve been doing Wonky Donkey rounds in our weekly quizzes.' (sic)

Geordie presenter Dec has previously spoken about SM:TV saying, "We've filmed a show already which is looking back at the story of SM:TV and how it came about. So that's going to be on later in the year, we've recorded that already."

SM:TV originally started broadcasting on the 29th August 1998 and continued to broadcast on Saturday mornings. For the majority of its time on air it featured Ant and Dec who were fresh out of Byker Grove, along with Cat Deeley, who was a model at the time. The show quickly became ITV's most successful kids TV show since Tiswas.

Its popularity was mainly down to the celebrity guests and featured sketches including Chums, a parody of Friends and Eminemmerdale a parody of Eminem and Emmerdale.

SM:TV ended in 2003 without any of the original presenters after Cat left in 2002 to present Fame Academy.
